<p>PURPOSE: To provide a display device capable of display images of high quality pixel and high definition by using TFTs having enough carrier mobility and excellent on-off characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal element comprising a semiconductor substrate 101, a counter substrate facing the semiconductor substrate 101 and a liquid crystal layer held between these substrates is used in this display device. In the semiconductor substrate 101, pixel electrodes are formed corresponding to intersections of plural signal wires and plural scanning wires. In this device, a film 102 having tensile stress is provided further under the wiring layer which constitutes signal wires or scanning wires and is the lowest position from the liquid crystal layer as the referential position. By this method, the on-off characteristics of switching transistors is improved and images of high precision, high gradation and high contrast can be obtd.</p> |
