PURPOSE: To obtain sharp reflected images by eliminating ghost images and to eliminate an odd feeling without generating a change in the tint of reflected light by forming two layers of thin films having specified refractive indices and film thicknesses on the front surface of a rear surface mirror. CONSTITUTION: The thin films varying in the refractive indices of the rear surface mirror 1 low in front surface reflection are formed of the two layers; the thin film having the refractive index n1 =1.65 to 1.80 and the film thickness of 60 to 110nm as the first layer from the glass surface side and the thin film having the refractive index n2 =1.4 to 1.5 and the film thickness of 90 to 130nm as the second layer on the first layer. A specified low reflection film layer 10 is formed on the front surface of the glass 2, by which the reflected light of the glass surface is eventually decreased and eliminated. The performance of the mirror is exceedingly exhibited particularly for diagonally incident light and even for the mirror which has a large thickness of the glass and a reflection angle of light of about 20 to 70 deg. from a perpendicular direction and further, and is used when viewing the image from a relatively new distance from a relatively short distance by reflecting this image. The ghost images such as double overlap lines are extremely removed without impairing the optical characteristics. |
