PURPOSE: To provide a flat pannel display substrate, a display element using it and a method for producing the display element. CONSTITUTION: On a first plane on the substrate, multiple opaque conductive layers 116 arranged in a first prescribed pattern, a transparent isolated layer which is positioned on the same plane and also isolates the areas 116 from the respectively adjacent areas and the transparent electrode layer which is placed on the transparent isolated layer and also includes electrode parts 122 and 123 arranged in the second prescribed pattern. The respective electrode parts 122 are connected to the prescribed parts 116 of one corresponding area within the areas and electrically isolated from the adjacent areas 117 by the transparent isolated layer through being separated from the plane and also extending in a direction towards the adjacent area. The transparent electrode parts are extending till the adjacent area or in a direction over the area and the end parts of the first and second prescribed patterns are mutually and electrically isolated.
