METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONTROL OF NETWORK EVENT COUNTER

PURPOSE: To obtain the process and the device that detects production of an event threshold level and executes an action of a prescribed form. CONSTITUTION: An event counter, a sliding event threshold value counter and a sliding interval counter are initialized to a specified initial state at the start of counter management. The sliding interval counter is incremented by an offset time at the end of an interval specified depending on a content of the sliding interval counter and the sliding event threshold level counter is updated by a sum of an offset event value and a count of the event counter. Every time the count of the event counter exceeds the threshold level set by the sliding threshold level event counter, the sliding threshold level event counter is incremented by a content of an offset event and the sliding interval counter is updated to be a sum of the offset time value and the current time.
