PURPOSE: To provide an original positioning instruction device capable of displaying a correct position where an original is placed in accordance with the size of the original and simultaneously, displaying a warning message when the original is not correctly set, with respect to an image reader of a type that the original is aligned with one side of a contact glass, to be placed in the center. CONSTITUTION: The original positioning instruction device is provided with an original width detector 4 detecting the width of the original 1 placed on the contact glass 2, a light emitting display 3 which is arranged in parallel with one side of the contact glass 2 and can control a light emission range in the longitudinal direction of the display 3 and a microcomputer executing a calculation based on the output signal of the detector 4 and controlling the light emission range of the light emitting display, to show a correct placing position corresponding to the size of the original. When the original 1 is not in the correct placing position, the warning is displayed on a message display 8. |
