PURPOSE: To reduce an amount by which an engine case is protruded forward and to prevent interference with a body to contain an engine by a method wherein the whole of either a balancer or an automatic starter is suppressed from widely protruding frontward of the engine case. CONSTITUTION: Formation of an outboard motor is such that a fourcycle engine is contained in an engine cover vertically movably and steerably supported to a ship hull through a swivel bracket having a support shaft and a swivel shaft. In this case, a crank shaft 24 is vertically arranged. Further, a pair of balancers 42 and 42 are arranged in such a state to be divided to both sides in a lateral direction of an engine case 21 with the crank shaft 24 located therebetween, and balancer shafts 42b and 42b are arranged in parallel to the crank shaft 24. Further, an automatic starter 50 is arranged sideways of the engine case 21 in such a state to be laterally deviated from one balancer 42 of the balancers. |
