The mounting for attaching a cable (12) to an object (10) is intended to allow movement in various directions. The mounting comprises a ball and socket joint (14) which includes a ball (16) retained within a socket (18). The socket may be externally threaded and screwed into a threaded seating (22) in the object (10). The ball itself includes a hole through the middle, with the cable (12) passing through this hole. The ends of the cable strands are not twisted in the normal pattern of the cable, and are glued into the tapering section of the hole through the ball.
