PURPOSE: To provide a motion vector detecting circuit with which the access of a reference frame memory for the motion vector detection of the CIF image of H.261 can be reduced. CONSTITUTION: This circuit is composed of the reference frame memory, current block memory for storing a current image, detection window memory for storing the pixel data of a detection window, and motion vector detecting arithmetic part for detecting a motion vector by inputting current macro block data from the current block memory and inputting the detection window data from the detection window memory, and the detection window memory is provided with six pieces of memory banks in the 1/3 detection window size. During one macro block processing term, only one or two memory banks are read instead of reading the data just for the detection window size from the reference frame memory, and the reference frame memory access is reduced. |
