PURPOSE: To provide a picture reader capable of realizing miniaturization and low price by excluding a detecting mechanism for exclusive use for detecting the mounting of an option unit. CONSTITUTION: A reader main body 12 and an image sensor 44 installed inside the reader main body 12 and used for picture reading operation at least are provided, and this device is characterized by using the image sensor 44 in order to detect the mounting of the option unit 14 to be mounted freely attachably and detachably on the reader main body 12. |
