PURPOSE: To accurately measure anαparameter from the intensity ratio of 0-order and first-order wavelength light and the relationship between an AC voltage and amplitude by analyzing the wavelength spectrum of output light obtained by applying the AC voltage so that a center voltage is the maximum or minimum point of electricity - light characteristics of a light modulator. CONSTITUTION: Light from a laser light source 11 is applied to a light modulator 12, is modulated, and is applied to a Fabry-Perot interferometer 15. A sawtooth wave signal S1 is applied to the interferometer 15 from an oscillator 18, the light with a wavelength corresponding to the signal S1 is outputted from the interferometer 15, the light intensity of each wavelength is detected by a photodetector 16, and the light is inputted to the Y-axis terminal of an oscilloscope 17. Since the signal S1 is inputted to the X-axis terminal of the oscilloscope 17, the wavelength spectrum of the output light with the X axis as the wavelength of light and with the Y axis as the intensity of light appears on the screen of the oscilloscope 17. The ratio of the 0-order and first-order wavelength light in the wavelength spectrum is calculated by an operation device.
