PURPOSE: To make the whole of a power conversion unit for uninterruptive power supply compact and lightweight. CONSTITUTION: On the surface of a base 9 having a high thermal conductivity, provided are a converter 7 at the upper stage side, an inverter 8 at the lower stage side, a radiating fin 4 on the rear surface, an electrolytic capacitor 2 at the left side when seen from the front of the base 9, and terminals 6 at the right side. Both the converter and inverter have the same configuration, and each of them is arranged horizontally in one row in a form of pinching a substrate 5 by a switching element 1 and a snubber circuit 3 at both the sides. In this embodiment, the converter 7 having about 80% of power loss compared to the inverter 8 and having less heat generation is arranged at the upper stage side, the temperature rise can be reduced compared to a reverse arrangement; and also common electrolytic capacitors and terminals can be arranged at the same side compared to the arrangement in a horizontal direction as done in a conventional method, so that the dimensions in horizontal direction can be reduced and also the size of radiation fin can be made smaller by determining the capacity of the radiation fin 4 in response to the sum of the power loss. |
