PURPOSE: To obtain a nitrogen oxides sensor which can be operated stably even to an exhaust gas which contains high-temperature vapor by forming an electrode with a complex oxide composed of a perovskite structure indicated by MTiO3 whose melting point and decomposition temperature are high and which is stable to water. CONSTITUTION: A solid electrolyte body 1 is formed out of zirconia which is oxygen-ion-conductive, whose thermal stability, heat-resistant property and material strength are excellent and which has been stabilized with magnesia or the like, and a first electrode 2 is formed on its outside. The electrode 2 is constituted of a complex oxide of a perovskite structure indicated by MTiO3 (where M represents at least one kind out of magnesium, calcium, strontium and the like) whose material melting point and decomposition temperature are high, or a substance containing it. In addition, a second electrode 3 which is composed of platinum, silver, gold or the like is formed inside the electrolyte body 1. Then, the outside of the electrolyte body 1 is brought into contact with a gas to be inspected. a potential difference between lead wires 5, 6 is measured, and an NOx concentration can be measured. |
