MUSICAL SOUND GENERATING DEVICE USING MICRO-RESONATOR ARRAY

PURPOSE: To generate musical sounds having large degree of complexity without using a large capacity memory by making a micro-resonace structure vibrate in accordance with a specified sound highness and allowing musical signals to express various tone colors and tones according to the vibration of the micro- resonance structure. CONSTITUTION: A micro-resonator array 14 outputs a first high frequency signal corresponding to a fundamental tone and additional high frequency signals equal to the number of desired overtones. The high frequency signals from the micro-resonator array 14 are outputted to a frequency downward conversion circuit 16, which mixes high frequency signals with a high frequency reference signal fc supplied from an oscillator 18 to lower frequencies to an audible frequency band and inputs them to an overtone synthsizer circuit 20 to give weghtings to overtones. Moreover, an overtone weighting signal is outputted from a tone color control circuit 22 and further an envelop generator 24 outputs signals to a musical sound output device 28 via lines 26.
