摘要 PURPOSE: To provide a lens position control device in a variable power optical system which requires less memory data even though the number of divisions of a focal distance range and a photographing distance is large, and which can perform focusing with a high degree of accuracy. CONSTITUTION: A lens position control device in a variable power optical system comprises a distance measuring means 9 for detecting a position of an object so as to deliver photographing distance data, a means 3 for detecting a displacement of a movable lens group 1 in the variable power optical system from a reference position due to power variation, a means for computing a required displacement of a focusing lens group 2 in the variable power optical system from a photographing distance data delivered from the distance measuring means 9 and a displacement of the movable lend group 1 delivered from the detecting means 3, and a focusing means 8 for driving the focusing lens group so as to carry out focusing in accordance with the required displacement calculated by the computing means.
