SENTENCE END CONTROL METHOD FOR SPEECH SYNTHESIZING DEVICE

PURPOSE: To prevent impairment of naturality even in the case of an accent of the high last moras. CONSTITUTION: The sentence end N moras of phrases are extracted (S1) in sentence end control to extract phrase components and accent components from vocal sound symbol strings, to add these accent components and phrase components and to lower the grading of the phase components in the part of the sentence end N moras among these components. The accent type of the last two moras among these N moras is decided (S2). The amt. of lowering the N moras is increased when the accent type is 'HL' or 'LL' (S3). The amt. of lowering the N moras is decreased when the accent type is 'HH' or 'LH' (S4). As a result, losing of the characteristics of the high accent components by excessive lowering of these components is prevented and the amt. of lowering the pitch frequencies necessary for the sentence end control is obtd.
