PURPOSE: To enhance developing efficiency and to obtain a high quality image by forming an oscillating electric field with a developing sleeve at a first electrode and an electric field for moving toner to the nonimage part of an image carrier at a second electrode. CONSTITUTION: A first vibrating electric field is generated between the first electrode 85a provided on an insulating member 85b abutted on a developer layer on the developing sleeve 81 and it, to form a strong AC electric field and generate a toner cloud. The second electrode 85c is provided on the first electrode 85a, so that an electric field P1 for moving the toner toward a photoreceptor belt 1 and an electric field P2 for moving the toner toward the first electrode 85a are formed to work for preventing infiltration toward the second electrode 85c and moving the toner toward the nonimage part of the belt 1. Thus, the sticking of the toner to an electrode plate 85, especially the electrode upper part of the second electrode 85c can be prevented. Moreover, the toner image which has already been formed on the image carrier is prevented from reversely flying up to the developing sleeve 81 and the electrode. |
