PURPOSE: To provide the multiplex optical communication system with which control information can exactly be transmitted to the equipment of a controlled system even when there is any vessel to obstruct the arrival of an optical signal at the equipment of the controlled system. CONSTITUTION: Light flooding/receiving devices A and B to be controlled by a host computer 20 are installed on both the sides of respective five rails 3 in lines A-E. Light flooding-receiving devices (b) and (a) are installed on the front surface and rear surface sides of respective carrying trucked 5 and 5, and both the light flooding/receiving devices (b) and (a) are connected by an electric wire. The optical signal radiated from the light flooding/receiving device A is received by the light flooding/receiving device (b) on the front surface of a 1st machine and radiated from the light flooding/receiving device (a) on the rear surface, and the second machine is irradiated with that optical signal. Therefore, the control signal is surely transmitted to the second machine even when the first machine obstructs it.
