PURPOSE: To precisely align the intermediate transfer positions of the toner images of each color without generating color smear by correcting a difference in the rotation of an intermediate transfer belt. CONSTITUTION: This electrophotographic device is provided with a transfer position correcting device detecting the time difference (deviation value A) between a scanning reference detecting signal (optical writing synchronizing signal) and a belt reference detecting signal and correcting the intermediate transfer positions of the toner images from a photoreceptor belt 1 to the intermediate transfer belt 5 in accordance with the time difference. In an intermediate transfer belt driving roller 6, a belt position correcting arm 32 for correcting the position of the intermediate transfer belt 5 is disposed and pivotally supported so as to freely rock centering a supporting shaft 33. In other words, the belt position correcting arm 32 is rocked centering the supporting shaft 33 and the intermediate transfer belt 5 is moved for fine adjustment in the direction of the arrow (b) with the intermediate transfer belt driving roller 6. The correction value of the intermediate transfer position by the fine adjustment movement of the belt 5 is determined according to the deviation value A.
