PURPOSE: To improve color density reproducibility for full-color recording by suppressing the reduction of density in black monochromatic recording at the time of automatically selecting black monochrome or full colors by prescanning automatic chromatic color judgement. CONSTITUTION: This color image forming device is provided with a means 790 for discriminating whether an input image is expressed by a chromatic color or not and a means 770 for selectively converting a picture signal into a color-picture signal appropriate for monochromatic image reproduction for image formation of Bk, C, M, or Y and a color-picture signal appropriate for chromatic image reproduction. The means 770 starts conversion into a color- picture signal appropriate for monochromatic image reproduction for forming a Bk image, and if the judging means 790 judges the existence of a chromatic original during conversion, switches the conversion to a color-picture signal appropriate for the chromatic image reproduction correspondingly to the judgement. When the means 790 does not judge the existence of a chromatic original until the end of conversion into the color-picture signal appropriate for the monochromatic image reproduction, the output of a color-picture signal to an image forming means 780 is allowed to end. |
