PURPOSE: To reduce an occurrence frequency of a read error by controlling an optical pickup so as to read the digital data again from an error occurrence area on a recording medium and changing a light quantity outputted from the pickup. CONSTITUTION: A laser beam of the light quantity corresponding to a first reference level is outputted from a laser diode 13a by generating the first reference level from a reference level generation circuit 24 when a disk 11 is reproduced regularly. Then, only when an incorrigible error occurs in the digital data read from the disk 11, a second reference level higher than the first reference level is generated from the reference level generation circuit 24. Then, after the light quantity of the laser beam outputted from the laser diode 13a is increased, and the S/N of the digital data read from the disk 11 is improved, the digital data on the error occurrence position are read again. Thus, the occurrence frequency of the read error is reduced. |
