<p>PURPOSE: To simplify an object selecting operation by estimating a desired object to be selected by a user and displaying this object with preference when plural objects are displayed on each other on a screen and then selected by a mouse, etc. CONSTITUTION: A user interface operates a pointing device 1 to select the desired one of objects shown on the screen of a display part 4 and then gives an instruction to the selected object. Then the user interface is provided with a coordinate detection means 5 which detects the coordinates of both start and end points, an object estimation part 7 which estimates the size of the object to be selected based on the coordinate information and the time information which is acquired through a time counting part 6 when the start/end point coordinates are detected, and an object selection part 8 which checks the sizes of objects existing near the end point coordinates and selects in sequence the objects in order of smaller errors between the checked sizes and the estimated ones of objects.</p> |
