PURPOSE: To provide a projection type liquid crystal display device in which one light source is enough, and whose entire constitution can be miniaturized. CONSTITUTION: A light beam emitted from the light source 1 is split by condenser lenses 3 and 3, and the light beam on one system is reflected by a reflection mirror 5 and is made incident on an R liquid crystal panel 6. The light beam on the other system is split by a first dichroic mirror 14 reflecting B, the reflected light is made incident on the B liquid crystal panel 8, and the transmitted light is made incident on the G liquid crystal panel 7. The light transmitted through each liquid crystal panel is synthesized by second and third dichroic mirrors 11 and 12, and is projected by a projecting lens system 15. |
