<p>PURPOSE: To provide a chip component (SMD) such as a square chip resistor, etc., which can be bulk mounted. CONSTITUTION: A pair of externally connecting electrodes 3 are provided at both sides of a square base 2 made of ceramics. A recess 2b is formed on the surface 2a of the base 2. A resistor element 4 is bridged between the pair of electrodes 3 in the recess 2b. The element 4 is covered with glass protective coating 5. The surface 5a of the coating 5 is so formed as to be lower than the upper end faces 3a of the pair of electrodes 3. Thus, even if the resistor 1 is bulk mounted on a board 20 in a rear side, characteristics are not failed in the case of mounting.</p> |
