摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which stablizes the biological activity in a blood culture vial to detect it non-invasively using an optical blood culture sensor based on a time-resolved fluorescence measurement excluding any limit relative to the intensity of fluorescence. SOLUTION: A culture medium and a blood samle are introduced into a sealable vial 1 including a head clearance gas mixture 4 and the variation of components of the gas mixture may be monitored with the aid of a material in a vial which is composed of a mixture 3 of two kinds of fluorescence sensor material and chemically sensitive. A first sensor material indicates a long fluorescence attenutation time and/or the intensity of fluorescence varying in accordance with a first chemical parameter such as the concentration of oxygen. A second sensor material indicates the intensity of fluorescence varying in accordance with a second chemical parameter such as pH or the concentration of carbon dioxide, and the fluorescence attenuation time of the second sensor material is extremely short.
