PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single-base high-pressure discharge lamp for automotive head lamps which is improved and easy to install the lamp tube in the base as compared with a lamp produced by conventional technology. SOLUTION: This lamp has an outer tube 11 stuck on a tubular discharge tube 1 by melting. To install a base of the lamp, the units 1, 11 constituted of the outer tube 11 and a discharge tube 1 are fixed by sealing the outer tube 11 in holder member 8b fixed adjustably inside the base shell 8a.
