<p>A method for the detection of antigenic or allergenic molecules associated with airborne particles. The particles (10) are collected onto a membrane (11) and the associated molecules are eluted from the particle and immobilised in close proximity to the particles (10). The molecules may then be identifided as being antigenic or allergenic and the associated particles carrying the antigenic or allergenic molecules may be identified. The membrane (11) may be formed of nitrocellulose or another protein binding material. In this case the particles (10) on the membrane (11) may be retained by a thin layer of a hydrated agarose or polyacrylamide gel (12) to hold the particles on the surface and to elute soluble proteins (13) from the particles.</p> |
