Motor vehicle pneumatic suspension system

The pneumatic suspension system includes a compressor (12) driven main pressure line (14) which feeds the pneumatic suspension elements (31) via a control valve (30). The main supply line has a venting valve (16) at one end to vent excess pressure into the atmosphere, and max. (28) and min. (24) pressure switches which ensure that the pneumatic pressure is held between these two extreme limits i.e. the suspension elements are only subjected to a maximum pressure irrespective of vehicle loading and that a minimum pressure remains in the suspension elements at all times. The compressor supplies air to the suspension via a gas drier (15) and the maximum pressure switch is bridged by control switches (33, 34) for manual setting and for automatic control. The pressure switches are in series with the solenoid supply (21) for the venting valve.
