Estimation of bidirectional movement in codec for low bit rate images

<p>The movement of an object is estimated in the domain in which the movement occurs in a predetermined block of a single image. Information on the direction of displacement in the current image and on the shape of the object is filtered. Information on the direction of displacement for the next image and on shape indices of the object are then filtered. Information is then transmitted from either the first stage or the second stage according to previously established methods of estimated movement of individual images. The first individual image is transmitted as an intra-image and subsequently the odd individual images estimate the movement by retrospective prediction and the even images by advance prediction.</p>
