Ratchet spanner with a multi edge internal spanner head

The ratchet spanner comprises a lever section (2) and the ratchet head (1) which has a milled out section (4) containing a drive wheel (5) and a swing lever (6), a ratchet (7) and a compensating rod (8). The drive wheel has a toothed segment (5a) and can be turned by movement of one arm of the swing lever and thus engages with the toothed rim (12) of the closed head spanner section. The other arm of the swing lever connects to the ratchet which is held against the toothed rim by a spring (18). A connecting rod (24) joins the drive wheel and swing arm assembly to a push rod (27) which extends into the lever section of the tool. The push rod is operated by a threaded bar operated from the end of the lever section by a knob (37).
