The invention concerns a method for concentrating or washing fibrous material, the method calling for a pad of fibrous material to be formed on the surface of at least one permeable surface (5) of at least one filter element, the pad being rotated about an axis (22) and passed through or dipped in a bath (6) at least partly filled with filtrate or washing liquid. The method is characterized essentially in that the washing liquid flows essentially parallel to the axis of and approximately normal to the at least one filter surface of at least one filter element disposed approximately at right angles to the axis, i.e. approximately at right angles to the pad of fibrous material which collects on the filter element, thus passing through the filter surface or pad of fibrous material, and/or in particular the liquid is passed essentially parallel to the axis of the filter element out of the pad of fibrous material. The invention also concerns a device designed to carry out the method, the device being characterized in that the filter elements are designed as discs (5) disposed vertically with respect to the axis of rotation and preferably made up of segments. |
