A cooling controller has a vacuum container (6), a cooling unit (2) with an elongated section (2b, 2c) protruding into the container with a cooling section (36,37), a cooled part (4,5) in the container and cooled by the cooling section and a thermal coupling section (21,27) in the container which connects the cooling section with the cooled part.The coupling section has two parts with corresp. surfaces which fit into each other and are inclined wrt. the longitudianl direction of the elongated parts. At least one coupling part is movable w.r.t. the other in this longitudinal direction. The contact pressure of the coupling parts is held practically constant by springs
