PURPOSE: To provide an electric type power steering device capable of accurately detecting the rotating state of a motor. CONSTITUTION: A motor rotation detector 32 calculates a differential value of an inter-motor terminal voltage value V detected by a motor terminal voltage detector 31 and a differential value of a motor current value (i) detected by a motor current detecting circuit 42. The nonoperating state of the motor is determined when a ratio between the motor current value (I) and its differential value is equal to that between the inter-motor terminal voltage value V and its differential value. When the nonrevoluting state of the motor is determined, a signal for indicating this state is output to a terminal detector 33 to be in end contact. When a steering torque T is a specified value T0 or more, the steering device is determined to be in 'end contact' state.
