<p>PURPOSE: To obtain an oil-absorbing waste to be used in machinery works, maintenance shops, etc., by impregnating regenerated waste paper with a lipophilic agent to furnish the waste paper with oil-absorbing ability. CONSTITUTION: Regenerated pulpy fibers are impregnated with a mixture of a water-soluble oil-absorbing agent comprising an emulsifier, surfactant and water and a lipophilic agent prepared by polymerizing a higher fatty acid into a resin in a pulper; and the resultant pulpy fibers are then made into a felt-like sheet with ink left therein without making a deinking operation using a papermaking machine. The oil-absorbing agent resulted from the squeezing operation in the papermaking process is returned via a recirculating piping to the pulper. The felt-like sheet (a waste) is then heated to the crosslinking temperature of the fatty acid to stabilize the lipophilic group using a heating device. In case the regenerated pulp is hard to make into a felt-like form, the pulp is mixed with vegetable fibers (e.g. cotton), animal fibers (e.g. wool) or animal protein powder (a pulverized leather).</p> |
