PURPOSE: To calculate the variation amount of ink directly from the design of a printed matter by obtaining the combination of the halftone area rates of both reference and printed matter and printed matter to be inspected from the reflectivity or density of visible and IR regions of both the matters and standard print characteristics, and obtaining a variation ink amount from the area rates and the ink amounts of standard and varying monochromatic inks. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for calculating an ink variation amount comprises a computer 10 having a CPU 6, a memory 7, an input interface 5 and an output interface 8. Reflectivity measuring means 1 of a printed matter, position measuring means 2 for measuring the position of the matter for measuring the reflectivity, and standard data input means 4 such as a keyboard, etc., are connected to the interface 5. The means 1 has a reflectometer, and the means 2 has an encoder and other position detector. Calculated result measuring means 9, position control means 3 for controlling the measuring position of the means 1, and ink supply amount control means 30 are connected to the interface 8. |
