PURPOSE: To provide a seam profiling control method for a welded pipe without generating weld defects and a seam profiling controller. CONSTITUTION: A processing head 5 turnable around the axis x-x of the pipe is arranged above an open pipe H and the seam deviation of a butt part 6 is detected by a seam deviation detecting section 20. An arithmetic section 31 calculates the rotating quantity of a processing head 5 and the rotating quantity of mirrors 1, 2 according to the result of the detection and a processing head control section 30 turns the processing head 5. Mirror control sections 32, 33 turn the mirrors 1, 2. The butt part 6 of the open pipe H is irradiated with a laser beam 9 from a direction existing on a plane inclusive of the central line x-x of the mill from the processing head 5, by which the beam welded pipe is produced without generating the weld defects in the butt end faces. |
