PURPOSE: To obtain a transparent styrenic copolymer having excellent retention discoloration. CONSTITUTION: This transparent styrenic copolymer comprises 40-80mol% of an aromatic vinyl monomer and 60-40mol% of a vinyl cyanide monomer and low retention discoloration. When the average value of the vinyl cyanide monomer content in the copolymer is X (mol%) and the three chain content of the vinyl cyanide unit is Y (mol%), correlation, Y<=0.0238×(X-42.1)<2> +0.3 is established.
