PURPOSE: To detect the trim angle of an outboard engine with high accuracy by using an inclination angle sensor. CONSTITUTION: Gravity type inclination angle sensors 9 and 15 are respectively provided in an outboard engine 2 and on a ship's hull 1. Furthermore, a trim angle detection device body 17 is provided for detecting the trim angle of the outboard engine 2 on the basis of a difference between angle values detected with the sensors 9 and 15. According to this construction, an angle relative to the ground can be detected without any influence by a hull structure, and a trim angle can always be detected accurately, regardless of a transom board inclination angle to change depending on each type of hull. Also, even when the hull 1 has a trim, a difference between angles detected with both sensors 9 and 15 stands for a trim and, therefore, the trim angle can be detected with high accuracy. |
