PURPOSE:To increase load follow-up capability according to decrease in load without complicating a plant by detecting the amount and variation rate of load in a fuel cell and by controlling the amount of steam condensation in exhaust air from an air electrode. CONSTITUTION:When the load of a plant is sharply decreased, decrease in load current is detected with an ammeter 12, and a controller 6 calculates the variation rate of the load current based on the detected data. When the absolute value obtained by calculation exceeds a specified value, shut-off valves 10, 8 are opened and closed respectively. Exhaust air from an air electrode 2 supplied to a condenser 4 with control valves 9, 7 is supplied directly to a reformer combustion chamber 3, and the condensation amount of steam in the exhaust air is decreased. Air supplied to the chamber 3 is diluted by steam, and increase in the temperature of the chamber 3 is retarded. Fuel reforming is retarded and load follow-up capability according to decrease in load is increased without installing additional equipment. |
