Method for the treatment of aqueous media or effluents containing radioactive metal ions including silver, cobalt, potassium, cesium, antimony. The method reduces the ion concentration to a value by which the radiochemical activity of the aqueous media or effluents is reduced to a level less than that laid down by regulations, enabling them to be discharged. The method involves at least one first phase in which the aqueous medium is passed through a filter (1) comprising a layer of oil coke granules, whereby at least 90 % of the above-mentioned radioactive ions can be retained. If the radiochemical activity is not lowered to below the value of the rejection threshold at the end of the first stage, the aqueous medium is then subjected to a second phase in which it is passed through a second filter provided with a graphite particle lining coated with a conductive polymer layer comprising ethereal cryptating cages. |
