PURPOSE: To secure the satisfactory durability for a catalyst even when the catalyst is used under conditions other than controlled conditions. CONSTITUTION: In order to lower the initial performance of the objective catalyst, the total amt. of noble metals carried on a carrier is reduced to <=0.7g, preferably <=0.4g per 1l of the carrier. The coating weight of a fireproof inorg. oxide layer is also reduced to <=200g, preferably <=120g per 11 of the carrier and the specific surface area of the oxide layer is reduced to <=120m<2> /g, preferably <=85m<2> /g. |
