The invention relates to a plant for stacking veneer sheets from a sheet cutter, especially narrow veneer sheets. The plant incorporates a conveyor 1 for bringing the veneer sheets from the cutter and a stacking device 3 for transferring sheets 2 fed thereto in supported manner to a stacking station and for pressing them down into a stack 5. Between the conveyor 1 delivering from the crosscutting machine and the stacking station 3 there is a device for collecting the sheets into groups essentially corresponding to the size of a store in the stack 5 to be formed. <IMAGE>
