The foot rest (1) for an invalid chair is attached to the front vertical frame member (2) of the chair and is shown deployed downwards in the Figure. It comprises a sole plate (3) with downward front flange (3'), pivotable about axes (7 and 13) to a folded up position by moving a lever (24) in the direction of the arrow. Rotation of the lever (24) pushes down a spring loaded operating rod which rotates a cam at the bottom end to raise an arm (4), by a cable, thus tilting the sole plate to a vertical position against the front of the seat, the motion being controlled by a compression spring (23). |
