The orthosis has two channel sections (1,2) to be resp. mounted on the thigh and calf of the user and connected by two pairs of superposed lateral yokes (4,5). These have connections on a common axis of articulation (6). Above this axis are two ballcranks (9,10) of unequal length. The longer legs are connected at their ends and the shorter legs (9) extend upwardly. The ball cranks are connected at their centres to the lower yoke.
