A protective device for the hearing comprises a flexible closure member which can be placed in the ear of a user and a shock-absorbing device which interacts with the closure member. The shock-absorbing device has a relatively rigid housing which is releasably clamped in a holding opening in the closure member. The closure member may have a passage, one end of which has a narrowed rim, which narrowed rim forms a rib which can be hooked into a circumferential groove in the shock-absorbing device.
