The protection for waste container lids comprises a plastics film (1) shaped to form a sleeve (2) joined on three sides (3,5). The fourth side (6) is open to enable it to be slipped onto the lid. One side (8) is extended beyond the sleeve to cover the whole of the internal face of the lid. The face (11) of the side in contact with the lower face of the lid has its end (12) either left in the original state or is provided with an adhesive material (15) to ensure holding it on the lid. The extension (9) of this side is cut to adapt to different lids of standard waste containers.
