Tire levers (10, 30) are disclosed for mounting tires (32) on rims (34). The tire levers have a first trough (22, 26) which engages one side (38) of a rim (34) adjacent to a tire sidewall (42) already mounted in the rim. The levers also have a second trough (22, 26) which engages an opposed sidewall (44) of the tire located outside of the rim. The tire lever is rotated to push or pull the tire sidewall outside the rim up and over the side of the rim to drop into position in the rim without any part of the tire lever entering inside the tire to pinch an inner tube located therein.
