<p>The Kinetic Energy, E, of a body, Mg, in free fall in the earth's gravitational field is proportional to the force acting on it and the distance travelled. The distance travelled is a product of the magnitude of the Velocity and the time taken to travel that distance. The body, Mg, if made to move a toothed rack will rotate a pinion with which it is meshed thus converting the downward motion of the body into the rotational motion of the pinion and its shaft. This rotation of the pinion and shaft can be used to drive a train of gears which ultimately drive an alternator/Dynamo. Thus the Kinetic Energy of the body, Mg, is converted into electrical energy.</p> |
