Simple conveyor belt which presents textile spool reliably and accurately

A process for supplying cylindrical or conical spool tubes to a textile machine entails feeding the tubes singly from a holder, along a row or work stations to a servicing appts. Here the tubes (2) are, during supply, supported at their periphery only by two min. straight, parallel conveyor sections moving in the supply direction. Thus is achieved an undisturbed run of tubes where each always adopts the same position on the conveyer. Also claimed, for carrying out the process, is a conveyor comprising two endless belts (61) placed alongside one another along the machine length, the inter-belt distance being constant along the length and less than the mean dia. of the conveyed tubes. Pref. the endless belts have a circular or oval cross-section and, under the upper active belt cords, there is at least one support (65), e.g. a trough with a pre-formed floor, which is placed above the machine working stations at least along the whole length of active cords. The distance between the endless belts can be adjusted. Alternatively the conveyor comprises a broad belt where raised edges extend above the middle part and the distance between them is less than the average dia. of the tubes. It can be formed as a toothed belt with its outwards facing teeth integral with the raised edges.
