Optical emitting head consisting of a laser (6) and an external optical modulator (8). The modulating signal is modulated (12) by an electrical signal proportional to 1-e, e being the noise power superimposed onto the laser signal, before being applied to the optical modulator (8). The invention is suitable for fibre optical transmission applications.
