A transverse profile control system is for the gloss, smoothness and/or groove of a running length of material (paper, plastic or textile). The system features at least one chamber (5). At least one part of the chamber wall (7) also defines the space (6) of a multizone outer heating unit for the succeeding roll (2). The heating of the wall (7) takes place by means of the heat emitted to the wall surrounding the space (6) and the chamber (5).
